Overview
TWK Agri is inviting applications for an IT Trainee position within its IT Infrastructure division in Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu-Natal.
The successful candidate will assist with technical support, computer troubleshooting, equipment configuration and network maintenance.
This permanent position offers practical IT experience, technical training and mentorship for candidates interested in developing their careers in Information Technology.
Key Responsibilities
– Provide first-line technical support through the IT Helpdesk.
– Troubleshoot computer hardware, software, printers and connectivity issues.
– Log, update and escalate support tickets using JIRA.
– Install, configure and deploy desktops, laptops, printers and mobile devices.
– Assist with hardware upgrades, replacements and routine maintenance.
– Support basic network troubleshooting, including Wi-Fi, switches and cabling.
– Maintain accurate IT asset registers and equipment inventory records.
– Follow company IT security policies and procedures.
– Participate in technical training and assigned certification programmes.
Minimum Entry Requirements
Applicants must have:
- Grade 12 / Matric.
- Basic knowledge of computer hardware and peripherals.
- Understanding of Microsoft Windows operating systems.
- Familiarity with Microsoft 365 applications.
- Basic networking and troubleshooting knowledge.
- Understanding of printers and mobile devices.
Advantageous Qualifications and Experience
The following will be beneficial but are not compulsory:
- Certificate, Diploma or ongoing studies in Information Technology, Computer Systems Engineering, Information Systems, Network Administration or a related field.
- Previous IT support experience.
- Relevant internships, practical training or academic IT projects.
No tertiary qualification or previous work experience is compulsory.
