Sandvik Mining and Rock Solutions, a global high-technology engineering leader in mining and rock excavation, is inviting applications for the position of Warehouse Controller based at JCHX, Zone 5. This role is suited for committed, flexible, and mobile professionals who can adapt to working anywhere in Botswana.
Job Overview
The Warehouse Controller is responsible for operating and administering all warehouse functions, including receiving, storage, packaging, dispatch, and stock control of materials and equipment. The role ensures warehouse operations meet safety standards, compliance requirements, and key performance indicators while supporting efficient customer order fulfillment.
Key Responsibilities
Environmental Health & Safety
- Adhere to Sandvik safety, health, and environmental policies and procedures
- Uphold and promote a strong safety culture within the warehouse
- Report operational hazards and safety incidents promptly
Warehouse Operations
- Execute daily warehouse operations in line with standard operating procedures
- Maintain high levels of stock accuracy and inventory control
- Safely operate and monitor warehouse equipment (forklifts, pallet jacks, strapping machines, etc.)
- Conduct routine inspections to ensure equipment is safe to operate
- Complete all operational reporting using Sandvik systems
- Report shipment discrepancies, safety issues, and operational concerns
- Collaborate with internal Sandvik departments to resolve customer order queries
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives
- Oversee receiving and dispatch processes to ensure accuracy
Handover, Collections & Export
- Ensure high-quality standards for all outbound shipments (accuracy, condition, transport requirements)
- Prepare and manage outbound staging areas
- Control dispatch documentation, including collections, handovers, and export paperwork
- Coordinate export compliance inspections with authorities (BOBS, SGS, Customs, etc.)
- Investigate shipment discrepancies and provide timely feedback
Order Management (BV / FS / RT)
- Monitor order capturing and system integration (Salesforce, Esker)
- Ensure pick notes are generated and allocated to pickers timeously
- Oversee order prioritization and timely picking
- Monitor unconfirmed order lines and aging reports
- Track Proof of Deliveries (PODs) daily
- Monitor back orders and share weekly reports with stakeholders
- Maintain and update Goods-in-Transit (GIT) reports
Handling & Storage
- Monitor daily inbound truck schedules
- Ensure safe vehicle positioning for loading and offloading
- Inspect racking and cantilevers and report defects
- Optimize space utilization and storage methods
- Control bulk and external storage areas for safety and efficiency
- Implement approved warehouse layout changes
Warehouse Team Control
- Provide backup support to warehouse team members
- Offer on-the-job coaching, guidance, and development
- Resolve team queries and operational challenges
Minimum Requirements
- Degree in Supply Chain Management or equivalent qualification
- 2–3 years’ experience in warehousing or distribution
- Intermediate MS Office skills
- Exposure to ERP, WMS, TMS, and EHS systems (Aurora and DI experience advantageous)
- Willingness to work flexible shifts and rosters
- Mining industry experience will be an added advantage
