Job Overview
An opportunity is available for a Maintenance Operative – Fitting to support mechanical maintenance activities within the Mini Business Unit. The successful candidate will carry out basic repairs, servicing, and installations on plant, machinery, and equipment within the mechanical fitting trade, operating strictly within the scope of training and supervision.
This role is suited to a hands-on individual with mechanical aptitude, a strong safety mindset, and the ability to follow technical instructions accurately.
Key Responsibilities
- Adhere to all quality assurance and governance protocols within the assigned area of responsibility
- Support cost-saving initiatives by optimizing resource utilization
- Remove and replace defective components or parts as directed by the supervisor
- Confirm availability of consumables before commencing tasks
- Operate trade-related tools and equipment, including:
- Impact wrenches
- Electric drills and saws
- Grinding wheels
- Oxy-acetylene torches
- Perform basic troubleshooting on machinery and equipment
- Read and interpret basic technical drawings, diagrams, and workshop manuals
- Execute manual support tasks such as cleaning, digging, loading, unloading, sweeping, and painting where required
- Complete administrative tasks accurately to ensure a clear audit trail
Minimum Requirements
- Relevant training in mechanical fitting or related trade
- Basic understanding of plant and machinery maintenance
- Ability to safely operate power tools and specialized equipment within scope of training
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and workshop manuals
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety
- Physically fit and able to perform manual tasks
