Overview
South Deep Gold Mine is offering Engineering Learnership opportunities for aspiring artisans in the following trades:
- Electrician
- Boilermaker
- Fitter
- Millwright
This programme provides both practical on-site training and theoretical learning, equipping candidates with the skills required to qualify as artisans. The opportunity is aimed at individuals from host communities who are passionate about building a career in engineering and mining.
Key Responsibilities
– Participate in structured technical and practical training programmes
– Attend all required theoretical training and short courses
– Maintain consistent performance throughout the learnership
– Follow all company policies, procedures, and code of conduct
– Adhere to health and safety standards at all times
– Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE)
– Work collaboratively as part of a team
– Seek feedback and engage in continuous development
Requirements & Skills
- Grade 12 with Mathematics and Science
- Full N3 qualification with the following subjects:
- Engineering Mathematics
- Engineering Science
- Trade Theory (relevant to chosen trade)
- Industrial Electronics
- Must be medically fit and pass required health assessments
- Must be a resident of one of the host communities:
Bekkersdaal, Zuurberkom, Thusanang, Hillshaven, Westonaria, Poortjie, Simunye, Kalbasfontein, Jachtfontein, Westonaria Borwa - Willingness to work in a mining environment
