Job Overview

Chobe District Council invites applications from suitably qualified Botswana citizens for the position of Driver II (B4 Salary Scale). The successful candidate will be responsible for driving heavy-duty council vehicles, ensuring safe transportation, performing routine vehicle maintenance, and supporting council operations through efficient and compliant driving services.


Minimum Requirements

  • Minimum qualification: PSLE (Standard 7)
  • Valid Heavy Duty Driver’s Licence (Class C)
  • Minimum two (2) years’ driving experience
  • Valid PRDP – Goods
  • Botswana citizenship
  • Physically fit and medically suitable for driving duties

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Drive heavy-duty vehicles exceeding 3,500 kg (non-articulated) and up to 16,000 kg including trailer
  • Drive council vehicles on official duties and trips
  • Supervise one or more vehicle attendants
  • Act as driver-in-charge when assigned to multiple vehicles
  • Perform routine vehicle maintenance including tyre changes, washing, fuel checks, oil and water level inspections
  • Ensure tyres are inflated to correct pressure
  • Ensure validity of vehicle registration and insurance discs
  • Report mechanical faults, accidents, or damages promptly
  • Carry out any other duties as assigned by the supervisor
