JOB OVERVIEW
The Security Coordinator will provide leadership, planning, and operational oversight of mine security functions. The role focuses on risk mitigation, access control, surveillance, compliance, and coordination with internal and external stakeholders to ensure a safe, secure, and compliant mining operation.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The successful candidate will be accountable for the following:
- Providing leadership, supervision, and oversight to internal security personnel and contracted security service providers
- Developing, implementing, and maintaining comprehensive security strategies, policies, and procedures aligned with mining-specific risks
- Conducting regular security risk assessments and recommending effective mitigation and control measures
- Managing deployment, training, performance, and operational effectiveness of security teams
- Establishing and maintaining robust access control systems, including visitor management, identification badges, and perimeter security
- Overseeing surveillance infrastructure, including CCTV, alarm systems, and monitoring protocols
- Supporting emergency preparedness and response activities, including liaison with law enforcement, emergency services, and internal response teams
- Coordinating and overseeing investigations into security incidents, breaches, theft, or misconduct
- Ensuring full compliance with applicable security legislation, regulatory requirements, and company standards
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Security Management, Criminal Justice, Law, or a related field
- Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in a security management role
- Proven experience within mining, industrial, or other high-risk operational environments (strong advantage)
- Relevant professional security certifications will be a strong advantage
- A Master’s Degree in a related discipline will be an added advantage
